The rules on travel in the new Dpcm of January 2021

What movements are allowed according to the new Dpcm in force since January 16? Is it possible to leave the region? And to find a relative or a friend? And what are the rules on second homes?

What can be done

The rules for travel contained in the decree-law and the decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers which came into force on January 16, 2021?

Here are all the rules: It should be remembered that for reasons related to work, health or necessity and urgency, it is always possible to move even outside your region or municipality: just have or fill in with the police self-certification.

Can you go to second homes?

Yes, you can head to a second home. However, only the family unit must move (no to "holidays with friends", in short), and one must go to a house owned or rented (but short rents, ie those under 30 days, are not "worth"). You can also move if you are in the red or orange zone, or if the second home is in a region in the red or orange zone.

Can you move out of your ordinary?

Yes, if you are in the yellow zone. Not if you are in the orange or red zone. However, an exception remains for those who are in the orange or red zone: if you live in a municipality with less than 5 thousand inhabitants, you are allowed to leave it to reach another municipality that is within a radius of 30 kilometers (and which is not the capital of Province).

Is it possible to move outside the region?

No, until February 15th, even if you are in the yellow zone. The exceptions seen above remain valid (second homes, work, health, need / urgency).

Can you visit a friend or a friend?

You can go to the yellow zone, but only once a day and within the regional territory, moving only in two adults (children under 14, people with disabilities or non self-sufficient people do not count). You can go to the orange and red areas, but only if the friend you want to go to live within the same municipality. Also in this case the rules seen above apply: you can travel at most in two adults and only once a day.

Is it possible to visit relatives?

You can go to the yellow zone once a day and within the regional territory, moving only in two adults (children under 14, people with disabilities or non self-sufficient people do not count). You can go to the orange and red zones, but only if the relatives you want to go to live within the same municipality. Also in this case the rules seen above apply: you can travel at most in two adults and only once a day.

What rules are there for car travel?

In all areas, it is allowed to travel only with the cohabiting family unit (to go to second homes) or at most two adults for the other permitted movements (as above, children under 14, people with disabilities or non self-sufficient matter).
